Help us realize our goal of a new facility, a state-of-the-art child care center for children living in the Georgetown, Delaware area.
The Building Campaign
First Steps Primeros Pasos has purchased, through a grant from Discover Bank, a 1.39 acre property on which to build the center. Zoning and permitting is in place, and a copy of the initial design is completed. The 9300 square-foot facility was developed with Moonlight Architecture, by a member of the architectural team that built the acclaimed early-learning center at Delaware Technical and Community College in Georgetown. This building will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to support the programming designed for First Steps Primeros Pasos.
The property is located at 101 Savannah Road in Georgetown, Delaware -- a location near one of the major poultry processing plants where many parents work, and one that will be very convenient for parents. The hours of service will complement the shift hours worked by many parents. As the Center will welcome all children, those hours are also appropriate for parents in a broad range of industries.
First Steps Primeros Pasos seeks to raise $1.8 million by 2008. This amount will complete and furnish the building, cover start up and fundraising costs, as well as site development and architectural fees, and a small endowment for capital repairs and scholarship support.
